SECOND DWELLING UNITS
We are proud that we've managed to make
most of our lots accommodate second dwelling units.
There are three types of tenants in second
Most compelling are senior relatives. This
kind of living is perfect for them. They have family close
at hand, but with respectful independence. Senior institutional
living is often an inhumane alternative, lonely and impersonal.
It is shameful that it is so common in the U.S.
Second are non-senior relatives. Such an
arrangement keeps families together and at peace.
Third are non-family renters. This is what
might be called well-controlled affordable housing, easing
costs for both homeowners and their renters.
